“Sat rupya,Aek Adhmi keliyae!!!”

“SHOPPING”- The term itself brings some sort of joy and excitement in the heart!!!!
Especially girls are crazy about shopping…Of all the persons I love to shop..

This shopping experience I had was the most remarkable one, because this incident took place in New Delhi, when I was going through my training for 8 weeks..

Training days in any software industry is the most enjoyable period of life in the professional career. We had our training at Gurgaon…Eight precious weeks of my lifetime, during which I enjoyed to the maximum!!!!

We were all accommodated in a Guest house in Gurgaon..

One fine afternoon I and my friend started for shopping…
The most exciting part of our travel in Gurgaon was traveling in Auto rickshaw, for which we hardly get any opportunity in TamilNadu..

Going in rickshaw from one sector to another was fun…Moreover this was very economical..

They usually charge only five rupees per head for one person for a travel of 2 kilometers.
We often visited the shopping malls located in Sector 14,that was 2 kilometers away from our guest house…

On this particular day we decided to go to the Sector 10 market which was quite farther than the Sector 14 market which we used to go.Both of us were not proficient in Hindi ,but knew Hindi to some extent..

I was the one who hired the auto rickshaw…

I explained him the destination we wanted to go and enquired the fare..

He replied me that “Sat rupya,Aek Adhmi keliyae!!!”

Immediately we got into the rickshaw happily…

The day was so hot and the journey seemed to be never ending..

While going we were discussing about the beauty of the city and about the people in North India..

Then I started saying,”Hey..these people are really hardworking. In TamilNadu even for going 100 meters the minimum auto fare is 20 rupees .See this fellow has been cycling for the past twenty minutes and has charged only seven Rupees per person..

We should really appreciate it and give him at least twenty rupees after getting down..

She was nodding her head to whatever I said..

As the conversation continued, the rickshaw stopped,,

He informed us that we had reached the destination and asked us to get down.

Till now everything was going on well.

We got down the rickshaw…took fourteen rupees change gave him and said “Dhanyavadh bhaiya”, meaning ,“Thank you brother”…

At that instant we heard that rickshaw wale screaming madly at us.

It took so long for us to realize why he suddenly became furious…

He was tensed to see that 14 Rupees, and started shouting,”Fools,How dare you give me fourteen rupees …I have been cycling through a long way in this hot sun……”.Instantaneously I recollected what he said when we boarded, “Sat rupya,Aek Adhmi keliyae!!!”….

Oh God, SAT means 60 and we had misunderstood the same as SATH meaning seven..

We didn’t know what to do at that instant…

He was screaming madly at us…

My friend turned blue and tried to convince him…

But he was not ready to give up…

A huge crowd gathered there and everyone was staring at us. seeing us arguing with him…

Though we felt that giving fourteen rupees was too less, one twenty was too much..

I tried to handle the situation by asking the people standing around us…

Fortunately two guys came for our rescue and bargained to that fellow for paying forty rupees..

Atlast..we were relieved..!

This could have been the most funniest shopping experience we had..

That day we realized that what sort of problem just the misinterpretation of words could

create..

We learnt from this incident that, we must always be careful in understanding things and make sure that we have understood properly!!!!

IRRESPONSIBLE IDIOT!!!!

I was in the first year of my engineering studies.

This incident took place in my second semester. In the second semester all the streams of Engineering students had a common paper by name Engineering Drawing .
Being a computer science student, i used to hate it like hell.

Though the subject was not tough, working with it was a tedious process .We had to draw diagrams in big chart papers which we used to call plate. The measurements were so minute and was always expected to be accurate. The worst part of it is was,we had to carry a heavy tool called Drafter every time we went to the session.

Like all others,I too attended the ED classes grumbling all through my second semester.
Atlast the day came.Yes.It was the day on which we had our Engineering Drawing University exams.Since my name starts with “R”, mine was scheduled in the afternoon slot, this time too.

I prepared from six in the morning for the exam that was to be conducted at 2.30 p.m.
When It was one o clock I dressed up myself ,had my lunch and waited for my friend to get ready. Both of us were hostelers and the block where the exam was to be conducted was approachable by ten minutes walk. So,around one thirty we both started for the college.

Its obvious that any student will show great level of devotion to God especially during exam time and I was not an exception. Moreover I am a bit pious than others. So I planned to visit the ANANDHA VINAYAGAR TEMPLE” that was located in our College Campus before attending my exams..My friend being a staunch Christian , remained at the temple gate.I went inside the temple, begged the Lord to help me get through that hectic exam.

When I came out,I noticed a drafter lying unnoticed.I always think too much of myself. So I murmured,”What people are these?IRRESPONSIBLE IDIOTS!!!Despite having Engineering Drawing Exam someone has left the Drafter here absentminded.”

After saying so I just left for the exam, recollecting all the stuff I had loaded into my mind for the past two days.My friend was also engaged in doing the same.Hence both walked silently. We reached the hall.,half an hour before the commencement of the exam.

When we had warning bell to enter inside the hall,I wished my friend success in her exam. She said,”Raasi ,All the best,Do your exam well.Let me leave..Give my drafter”

I was just withdrawn by her words.

I asked her ,“Which DRAFTER?”.

Then she remained me that she had given her Drafter to me to carry till the exam hall.

I was word struck and realized that,

The IRRESPONSIBLE IDIOT was none other than ME.

Yes I had kept it in the temple stairs while getting in and had forgotten to bring it back.

At that time, fortunately one of my other friends who had finished her exams in the morning slot came with a drafter. We got it from her and successfully entered the hall At last………..

This is one of the unforgettable moment of my college life which myself and my friends relish to recollect…

HOW BLOODLINE TURNED OUT TO BE MY DEADLINE?????

It was the nineteenth of September in the year 2006.
This would have also been an ordinary day in my life but for this incident.

Like any other enthusiastic fresher who has recently joined a software industry,i too woke up early morning, dressed myself as a typical professional and came to office exactly at nine. But the only difference was not with any of the technical documents but with a copy of Sidney Sheldon’s Bloodline in my hand..I brought it so carefully with the intention of being unnoticed by anyone.

It is the usual trend of any software industry to keep the freshers idle for a certain period of time by the name of bench..My company was also not an exception in doing the same and unfortunately I turned out to be the victim.

For the first one hour I checked my emails, read the online dailies, forwarded some mails and archived my favourites..But how long can an inquisitive person like me while away time like that????So,I decided to read the novel which I had brought, without even imagining its after effects..

I went to the cubicle of one of my friends as i hoped it to be a safer place than mine.I continued from the page which I had finished the previous night.I am a voracious reader that I get myself lost in books once I start reading them.

Initially I checked here and there and confirmed that nobody was noticing me.As time went on I was just lost in the story.I even ignored the comments of my friends that was heard then and there.I also forgot for how long I have been reading the book..

Suddenly I heard my friend’s voice whispering. “Hey Raji..Raji”..It is his usual practice to tease me so I ignored it too. Then followed the voice

“SIDNEY SHELDON…..GOOD”..

Really taken aback by this new voice,I just turned around to see who it was..
There awaited another shock for me...Yes.

It was none other than my
PROJECT MANAGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fortunately my project manager was kind enough to spare me with little warning and small assignments.

Even today I feel bad of thinking of myself being caught red handed ,since I had been the most sincere student of my class during the college days.. And this turned out to be the most embarrassing moment of my life..

So what I suggest everyone is

“NEVER COMMIT A MISTAKE WHEN YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT COMMITING IT PERFECTLY”
